A Star Wars Galaxies player city on Naboo, Eclipse Galaxy

Which side will have victory?

06-09-2011@Lianorm – by Azira – A recent announcement revealed that the Galactic Civil War conflict is set to come to a head just before the galaxy comes to a close on December 15. Scores will be tallied and whichever side has the most points will “win the game”. New events and conflicts are set to be scheduled in order allow galactic residents to do their bit for their faction during this definitive conflict. At the moment, the Rebels are showing their strength on Eclipse with a strong lead over the Imperials. Will the Empire Strike Back or will the Alliance take all? Either way, our galaxy’s end of days event will be themed after whichever faction wins. If you don’t want the last thing you see to be the Darth Vader’s boot or a singing Ewok in your face, you’d better get cracking!

Mandalorian Armour was the order of the day

07-09-2011@Lianorm – by Azira – Lianorm residents Alyxa, Joris, Bard’ika and Iloc’ last night took part in what would likely be the last Death Watch Crafting run organised out of Lianorm. The team, which also included Al’bel, Oddensa, Adaso and Darkor, began a precision strike at approximately 23:30 “local” (i.e. Dutch) time. Due to the strength and experience of the group, the raid was over within 30 minutes and the team emerged with a brand new Mandalorian Helmet Schematic in hand. The helmet has been crafted by legendary Lianorm armoursmith, the one and only Ludissk, and has since presented to its proud new owner, whose wish it was to own a piece of Mando armour before the Galaxy comes to a close.

Alyxa says “Do you know that…”
– You can catch a planet’s full compliment of gigantic fish in approx. 550 fish?
– Dantooine shoreline is not Bothan-friendly?
– Many cities let their grass grow too long, especially on Corellia?
– This is also not Bothan-friendly?
– /carebothanStare?

Galactic Housing Authority changes boost confidence

08-09-2011@Lianorm – by Azira – The latest figures from City Hall suggest that Lianorm will have enough citizens to maintain the current rank and shuttle until December 15. Recent changes made by the Galactic Civic Authorities now permit residents to be away from their homes for 180 days before their homes become zoning violations. The limit was formerly 90 days. Under that scheme Lianorm stood to lose a large number of citizens before the final closure in mid-December, however, Mayor Alyxa is now confident that the city should go out largely “in one piece”.
The town is one of a few early cities still standing in our Galaxy, however, Lianorm has consistently maintained rank as Metropolis despite dramatic drops in overall population over the years whereas many other towns have shrunk or disappeared. The first major exodus occurred when a large majority of the Dutch United Lowlands community left after the NGE in 2005. Shortly after, Mayor Durga opened the town to non-Dutch citizens, a move which helped secure the city’s future.
Approximately 20 percent of the town’s original pre-NGE cast still live in Lianorm. However, it is largely thanks to the newer citizens that the city is the successful metropolis we know it as today.

His activities insult the olfactory system

08-09-2011@Lianorm – by Azira – After a number of citizens complained about a strange odour emanating from a structure near the north east of Lianorm this week, this reporter decided to investigate. The smell can only be described as a curious mingling of a vinyl shower curtain and freshly baked cookies with a dash of the finest Scotch Whisky. After following our noses to a Large Naboo Houses on the shores of Lianorm Lake, it emerged that Imperial Ace Pilot, Ducca Crais, has been busy in his kitchen lately. When questioned as to what he was doing, Ducca said that he was burning chips at the Mayor’s request.
“She needs a lot of chips lately. I’m not really sure why, but I’m happy to oblige”, he said with a grin as he turned back to his fryer.
Ducca’s neighbours will be pleased to know that this is the last batch he’ll be cooking up for a while, as Alyxa now has all the chips she needs. “This last lot is just for me,” Ducca chuckled. “These overload chips give really great energy boost for … you know … a busy evening at the pool house”.

It’s the end of the world as we know it, but do you feel fine?
By -Wolf FreeLoader

The game will be ‘over’ soon. Many people are feeling a sense of foreboding and sadness about the up coming losses we will all suffer. But do we need to? Will all that was SWG really be gone?

At its basic level, SWG is a game with items in it. Some items help other items, while some items help you directly and some are for show. There are some great decorated houses in this game, and they will soon be gone. But they don’t have to be lost entirely. Go out, find and screenshot them. Make a fraps video. Then they’re saved.
The same goes for the items you like. Your favourite gun for example. Just save a picture of it, then it’s never really gone.
When my original account was banned, I lost quite a lot of items, but fortunately I had images of the ‘cool stuff’ so when the initial shock and sadness wore off (which happened quite quickly as well I was simply left with the frustration of having to go into game situations without my ‘best stuff’. As the game world ends at the same time your stuff is lost, you won’t have that problem to worry about.

So what else is there? Friends, community…
They don’t have to be gone. Social networking is the forefront of the internet now, including mobile devices. If you truly want to keep in touch, it’s easier than ever. There’s no sadness to be felt, only joy at knowing you can go onto new and different things with the same people in the future instead of lamenting the past that can never endure  under any circumstances.
Community? Well that’s tied to friends. You tend to hang with the same crowd in or out of games online, maybe even in real life. While it’s true you’ll never be able to hop back in game and all meet up in Mos Eisley, ask yourself when was the last time you did that anyway? The player base is shattered and those glory days seeing 100 people in Theed are long gone anyway, so there’s nothing to lose that isn’t already a mere memory. There’s a thousand things you can do with the same friends that can be done in other online mediums in the future, if you want to. It’s down to you to keep in touch and keep the spirit up, nothing really has to die with the end of this game.

Gameplay, situations, events…
Those great times when you all ran to the bottom of a cave only to be killed and have to do it again, the time you banded together to defeat that boss and so forth. Those times best exist in our memories. There’s still fun to be had in this game, but doing the ‘same old’ is much more a social activity than an adventure or gameplay thing these days. Nothing compares to the first few times you do something, when it’s still fresh and new and there’s exploration and the unknown to lost in. Losing the same tired old hoops to jump through isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Most of us have had time off at some point during the game’s history when we felt burned out with the ‘same old’. The coming closure is a longer break, but there will be no worry about what you’ll miss before you return. There is only the opportunity to let go and move onto different new things with your friends.
While it’s true things will never be the same, things never really do stay the same anyway. Is the game and situations you play now the same as when you started? Maybe if you’ve been playing under 2 years you could get away with saying ‘yes’ but for most of us, a lot has changed many times over and we have always come out on top with stronger friendships and closer knit groups. This is once again one of those times.
What will only be lost is the active status of a game that dared to break a mould, that dared to be awesome instead of cookie cutter or ‘safe’ as so many games are now a days. There never will be another SWG, but we all were fortunate enough to enjoy the one we did get. While it’s true the game’s had its ups and downs, the final game we sit here playing now isn’t so bad and is still a cut above the rest even after such destructive measures were implemented with the likes of the original NGE.
Stay close to your friends, stay in touch. Take your memories with you from this game, but don’t cling on to a saddened past. Grasp for a brighter, different future.

Dear Aunt Beru,
I am so excited! There is a beautiful twilek that has been sending me holo messages. She says she is stuck on Tatooine and needs 1000000 galactic credits to buy out her contract so she can have her freedom. She told me she would even come and visit me when she got free.
Aunt Beru, do you think I should do this? I don’t have that many credits but I think I can make them playing Sabacc. I have a very large ship I can use as collateral.
– In Love

Dear “In Love”:

It’s a trap.

Aunt Beru

Flight now permitted within atmosphere

Atmospheric Flight over Lianorm25-09-2011@Lianorm – by Azira – Recent changes in galactic legislation has lifted restrictions on flying through planetary airspace. Previously citizens were restricted to landing and launching their starships only from authorised starports. Now, however, they are free to launch and land wherever they so please. On the day the ban on atmospheric flight was lifted scores of galactic citizens turned out at Mos Eisley starport to test their wings in the atmosphere. Elsewhere in the galaxy, others were enjoying their favourite sights from a whole new perspective. This change has not come without casualties however. Many pilots and their ships, being unused to flying in the atmosphere, have met a crumpled end after flying too fast near the ground. Others have found that their ships lack the necessary instruments to be able to fly safely in areas where vision is impaired, such as the misty swamps on southern Naboo or during a sandstorm on Tatooine. Many buildings have  been damaged as a result. In Lianorm it was found that one of the city hall spires suffered minor damage after being clipped by Iloc’s gunboat on a test flight during a downpour.

Attempt to oust Mayor Alyxa thwarted by loyal citizens

6-07-2011@Lianorm – by Azira – When Mayor Alyxa welcomed the town’s newest resident a few weeks ago little did she know that he had designs on running the town himself. Epekai’s recent registration into the Mayoral Elections shocked and angered citizens, who turned out in droves to show their loyalty for their beloved Mayor Alyxa.
When questioned about his motivations for the attempted takeover, Epekai could only repeat, “I only want to be mayor of a great city before the game ends”. When this reporter challenged his statement and qualifications, the would-be mayor issued threats and later went to Mos Eisley to attempt to recruit an assassin to kill her!
Town spectators question the purity of Epekai’s motives, with one anonymous citizen saying “I think he’s just attention-seeking”.
Epekai has made claims that he was briefly mayor of another successful city on Eclipse, Omni Freight Yard on Talus. However, reliable sources revealed this statement to be untrue. Epekai has since been banned from Omni Freight and many of its buildings for harassing the mayor.
Mayor Alyxa, who has been Lianorm’s longest serving Mayor, also found that Epekai was pursuing her in a harassing manner these last few weeks, but shrugged it off as typical new player impatience. “I was as surprised as anyone when he registered to run for mayor and made his intentions to take over clear. While it’s flattering that he calls the city ‘great’, his actions clearly disrespect all those who helped make the city great, past and present. I’m prepared to give away a lot to further another player’s enjoyment of the game, but Lianorm certainly is not on that list!”
Current voting stats look to be set up for a landslide in Alyxa’s favour, with 33 for the incumbent and 1 for challenger, namely, himself). “Looks like he’s going to have to find another ‘great town’ in which to make himself unpopular”, said one passerby.

Deputy Mayor reveals his technique in a candid interview

Iv'va's fishing hut by Lianorm Lake07-07-2011@Lianorm – by Azira – After the recent city-wide announcement, nobody could fail to know about Iv’va’s latest success with the fishies this week. The Elusive Dantooine Laa is another in a long line of amazing catches by our Deputy Mayor. Looking around his trophy house at all the record fish he’s caught since last October, it’s quite evident that Iv’va seems to be more fortunate than the average fisherman. But just how does he come by all this luck? We sat down with Iv’va to find out.

Iv’va, first of all, what’s your secret to fishing success?
– Perseverance. I just keep going, trying not to lose heart at not catching fish and getting rusty cases. Also the new synthetic bait helps a lot.

You caught your elusive fish on Dantooine, but do you have a favourite place to cast your line?
– Well Dantooine is now close to the top of my list but it still can’t beat a lovely spot on Endor that I’ve found. No trouble there and normally some wonderful Lantern birds fly nearby.

What got you into fishing in the first place?
– I first got started with an order from Anish as she needed a schematic for a fish tank. Since then I have helped others get their schems and sent them Anish’s way to get them crafted.

There are always times between catches when waiting can be dull. What do you do to pass the time?
– I like to take a few datapads along; one with manuscripts on and another to write anything down that I think is worth it, like a to-do list or ideas that I’ll forget otherwise.

You caught your Elusive Laa after 2515 fish, but would you call yourself a luckier than average fisherman?
– I have noticed that I do seem to be fairly lucky at fishing. I can’t tell you why this is. A guild mate joked that I paid off a GM to get this lucky. I don’t even wear a luck suit (I may try that one day).

Finally, do you have any fishing tips to share with readers?
– Always watch your bobber! Try to find a nice fishing spot 4/0 – 4/1 – 5/0 -5/1 and then in that area find a spot where you can walk around in the water if possible, as it makes it easier to walk to your bobber once you receive the message “You reel in your catch”. I have found better fish when there is a bit of veg at the location so I prefer a 4/1 or 5/1 spot.

Thank you Iv’va, and best of luck for your future catches. If you would like to see the elusive fish itself, along with the rest of Iv’va’s extensive fish collection, head on over to his trophy hut on the shores of Lianorm Lake at -747 1300.

Regarding Nabooian wildlife, Beast Master Xiramia says “Do you know that…”
– Cheese made from fambaa milk is among the most pungent in the galaxy?
– A shaupaut will stop what it’s doing instantly to scratch if it has an itchy butt?
– The mott (Naboo pig) are all but extinct?
– A plains hunter is a rare sight these days?
– A gnort can hear another gnort’s KAIRW from over 6km away?
– A chuba can jump higher than Master Yoda?

Come December, all will not be lost

08-06-2011@Lianorm – by Azira – Lianorm’s days may be numbered but Mayor Alyxa doesn’t intend to let the memory of our beloved home town be lost to the ether just yet. Geared up with the latest in holo-capture technology our fuzzy leader will begin creating a video document of the town next week. The plan is to capture in detail the town’s layout, the city hall and some of the town’s notable and best decorated structures. The finished holo-recording will later be available for anyone to view on Lianorm’s holosite. “I figured it is best to do it now rather than leave it to near the end,” said the Mayor. “At least now most of the city’s structure and streets are intact. We can keep the fond memory of our town as it always was – a living Nabooian metropolis.”

This week -Wolf talks about the history of the DE-10: the ultimate gunslinger accessory for the SWG age.

So where does it come from? The DE-10 has always been associated with the Death Watch Bunker (DWB) and has had a few incarnations and tweaks over the years. What’s never changed though is the way you obtain one: go to the DWB and kill things. Eventually something (humanoid) would drop either the schematic or the barrel, both of which are needed for the creation of the weapon. Originally crafted by Master Weaponsmiths, the schematic became a ‘Munitions’ specialty after the NGE. But as an odd tidbit, this is an energy weapon that uses a projectile barrel – just think about that for a second.

Originally, anyone could use any weapon but would suffer huge penalties on accuracy and damage for not being ‘certified’ for that weapons use. The DE-10 required Master Pistoleer certification. In the CU, certifications became a licence to wield that weapon while no-one else could. With the NGE, things loosened up again and, once again, anyone could use almost any weapon (not sabers, for example) but now suffered no real penalties for using them, aside from the odd special that wouldn’t work with certain types.

The look and feel of the weapon have gone through changes too. Early versions of the DE-10 fired blue bolts with a generic sound effect. This was even mentioned in the weapon’s description until it changed to red bolts (as a standard for basic energy weapons). As with a lot of the weapons preCU, the pistol could be made with or without a scope which could enhance its accuracy properties. This was reflected in the weapon’s visual appearance. You’d have to have been mad to go to the trouble of looting it all not to enhance it with something basic like a scope! With the CU/NGE all DE-10s assumed the scoped look.
The sound also got a boost to a much meatier and unique effect, although it never quite sounded like I thought it should based on its look.

Damage wise, it’s always been a good hitter but equally it has been somewhat style over substance. Other guns often would equal or exceed its powers, even when enhanced. PreNGE krayt tissues could be used, looted from krayt dragons of course! When the CU/NGE hit, weapon damage became almost inconsequential and most guns were “ruined” during the conversion process.

When the devs realised they had royally screwed the pooch, damage once again became mostly weapon based rather than character level based. The DE-10, however, suffered by being bundled into the CL80 energy weapons category and shared its peak DPS with all other CL80 guns, which rendered it a weapon chosen completely for style. With the trader upgrades though, all weapons were able to be crafted at various combat levels, with the damage increasing accordingly for the higher level ones. Special-looted weapons such as the DE-10 were given slight bonuses to allow for the complexity in attaining them. Once again, the DE-10 became a worthy contender for ‘best gun’.

This is by no means a comprehensive history/stat sheet on the DE-10 but I found it fun to write, hopefully you enjoyed reading it. If I made any errors, feel free to mail me and correct me, I’ll credit you next issue. Take care, till next time!

Dear Aunt Beru,
I urgently need your assistance! There is a man in my life that I absolutely hate. He is so arrogant that he thinks the whole galaxy revolves around him. My boss told me I have to “terminate” him but I secretly have feelings for him. How can you love and hate a man at the same time? I want to please my boss, but at the same time, the thought of turning my saber against this man brings so much sadness. What should I do?
Sincerely, Red-Headed Vixen

Dear “Vixen,”
Sometimes there is a very thin line between love and hate and you seem like a very fiery and passionate person. Why don’t you ask this man to meet you on a deserted planet for a picnic? That way, you can get to know him better. Maybe he isn’t as bad as you think. If you don’t like him, problem solved! But if you do, perhaps you could kill his clone, instead?
Aunt Beru

10-07-2011@Lianorm – by Hurst – My light was blinking wildly on my data pad. It was a message from the editor of the telegraph. After checking my message, I realized that I was extremely late getting my Fishing Article into the office before the deadline! My reception out here is horrible to say the least, as a sand storm seems to be brewing in the north, heading for you know who. Figures.
Two weeks ago, while I was on holiday visiting many ancient galaxies, I was proud to see Balthus’Dire and that fishing psychopath Iv’va Problem take rampant charge on the fishing leaderboards, putting Lianorm into first place yet again. These two were the driving force of an unbelievable week. I bow to you both. Fine job!
This past week, I found NEI city Bandit’s mayor Oo’tini taking up a fishing pole and casting it into the competition. She did extremely well, and was totally excited to be doing so well. Iv’va was able to hang onto 3rd place, while I came in at a tragic 8th. The fish just were not biting for the Hurster this week. The puny fish I was catching wouldn’t make a meal for a baby Ewok, let alone contend with the leaders of the fishing board. Iv’va finally landed an Elusive Fish as well. As you all may know, the first in all of the Eclipse Galaxy. Great job Iv’va. From one fisher to another, “You’ve Got Bait!”
But even with all this excitement, Lianorm was left dusting itself off in 3rd place as Bandit’s took 2nd. As a guild though, NEI did extremely well and maintained 1st place.
All-in-all it has been a good couple of weeks. I must go for now. The storm seems to be moving quicker and I have to get under cover to avoid getting sandblasted. There seems to be a figure moving my way as well…

Azira interviews a new citizen: Sasquit

*Let me begin by welcoming you to Lianorm! My first question is quite obvious: how did you come to live here?
a. I asked a senior NEI if I could join the guild and was given an interview. I was accepted and then became a resident.

*Please tell us a little about yourself so existing residents can get to know you a little better.
a. I have played on several servers and decided to make a new toon here because of Galaxy Chat. I get on well with people, I don’t take things too seriously and generally just do things as it comes and enjoy the game.

*What do you think of the town and its residents so far? Are they friendly? Heard any interesting gossip? 🙂
a. The town is big and well laid out. I don’t spend much time at town much though. I haven’t come across any residence that have not been friendly.

*Do you enjoy living on Naboo? Or would you ideally like to make your home on another planet?
a. Naboo is a nice planet, though any planet is as good as another. I’m not particularly minded about where I live so long the city layout is well designed and organised, which Lianorm is.

*Do you have any plans for the future? What professions would you like to try out? What are your expectations of the game in its final days?

a. I had a lot of plans for the future when I made this toon but with the recent unfortunate news, I see little point investing anything long-term into the game now (sad but true, at least for me). My goal now is just try to enjoy time we have left, whatever that may be. I have given thoughts about going commando though 🙂 … and then going Commando profession!

*What are your favourite in-game hobbies and activities?
a. Despite not having fished at all on this character, I enjoy fishing. Not sure as to why I haven’t done so might be something to do with grinding to lvl 90 and gearing myself up, doing Heroics. Then the bad news hit us. It kinda took away some of the joy of long-term progression with the things I normally associate this with. I’ll more than likely to start fishing soon anyway. I like doing Heroics and running around Special Forces either on my own or with a group.

*Do you have any comments about the current Galactic Civil War that’s ravaging the galaxy?
a. Many will continue to suffer from this war. The Emperor and the Rebel Command need to come to a truce as it is already shown by the example of the people. I see many Imperials and Rebels working together such as running Heroics and building a ludicrous economy. If the war persist, then there has to be a victor along with casualties. I should like to see changes made to existing laws by either side to provide what is better for the galaxy. Order without unfair suppression.

*What do you think of your associates in NEI? Does the guild suit you?
a. The guild hasn’t given me any cause for concerns and from what I’m experiencing, everyone seems to be getting on well. I don’t know everyone in NEI but the people who I have come across and frequently done things with appear decent folk with a good sense of humour.

*Lastly, is there anything you would like to say to our readers?
a. I am not a short Wookiee … I’m in fact an Ewok with GGM (Gigantism-Growth Mutation).

*Thank you for this interview. It is a pleasure to have you as a new neighbour and I hope you will enjoy living in Lianorm until the very end!

Lianorm Telegraph #66 @26-06-2011

Editor’s note: This issue was largely compiled by the residents of Lianorm before the shocking news of SWG’s impending closure was announced on Friday, 24 June.

Announcement of SWG’s end leaves community distraught. As we all wonder how to cope, Wolf sends these words of advice

Twilight over Lianorm25-06-2011@Lianorm – by -Wolf – Wolf FreeLoader slumped down into the dusty chair. He was beat and exhausted from years of underworld living and a life on the edge. He reflected on his times in the galaxy; the good and the bad. A long time ago someone had said something to him that he hadn’t quite understood at the time. “Enjoy the journey, the destination always comes,” they’d said. It had been when he was in the Empire, serving in the Navy. The officer who told him vanished a few days after that, winding up defecting to the Rebellion. A few months later Wolf himself left the Imperial Navy for a low profile life, one that was guilt free and led on his own terms.
The saying came back to him now as thought about the journey. He understood now. The finality of the destination suddenly became all too real. He thought about his journey to this point and complete understanding settled upon him.

That’s what the sunset of SWG is: the destination. We all knew it would end at some point. We all know it’s just a game. Games have endings. Even the MMOs that last a long time and have a ‘consistent’ world to them end. However, think not of the ending, but of the journey you have all enjoyed so far, and of the final few moments that will be played out here over the coming few months.
Do all those things you wanted. Respec to those untried professions. Try PvP. Dare to fly in space. Whatever it is, just do it, and love it. Also, love your friends, the people you met here. Some of them may be very close and special to you now, but even the casual ones are all people behind an avatar — every one — so give them your thanks and have a good time with them, at least once more.
Make peace with those whom you perhaps didn’t need to chafe against. At least be cordial! It’s a time to bring it all together and just play the game, as a community united. Get the most fun we can, and go out heads held high.

Are Drag Queen Races Coming to Lianorm?

24-06-2011@Lianorm – by Bioge – There has been a lot of talk about Lianorm’s next big event. Race enthusiasts hinted that a drag race featuring some of the galaxy’s leading pod racers would grace Lianorm’s hallowed streets and boulevards, but protests from a Green Faction (led by Tauvo) pointed out that this would probably scorch all of Lianorm’s grass, leaving brown skid marks staining Lianorm and her honor.
All was not lost; Peaguses proposed we hold Drag Queen Races! Assembling the galaxy’s best cross-dressers, transvestites, and hermaphrodites, a race (perhaps even a death race) could be run through the streets. There would be male, female, and even an in between division. “I think if we throw a rancor into the mix, we’d have something special,” said a starry-eyed Peaguses.
And what do the Lianormers think? So far 100% of Lianormer’s support the idea (8 out of 8 Lianormers in a random poll). Even NEI’s Leader (and Lianormer) Wolf thought it was a good idea.
Mayor Alyxa had this to say: “What a wonderful idea! I think this would be a great opportunity for the citizens of Lianorm to come out of their closets and have a dashingly good time together!”

Elusia says “Do you know that…”
– Lianorm is home to the Galaxy’s largest fish?
– Wookiees actually jump in the water to catch fish with their teeth?
– Bothans like to mark their territory on the city’s lamp posts?
– Mon Calamari like to mark their territory in the lake?

The coming and going of citizens prompts an energetic response from the Mayor

23-06-2011@Lianorm – by Azira – The Lianorm Revamp is the official name for the ongoing restructuring and maintenance of the town layout. The project was started some years ago by several members of the founding community, the United Lowlands, and is now carried on today by our current mayor Alyxa. Recently there have been a number of citizens coming and going as they pack up to head off on new travels, or came home to settle down in Lianorm once again.
Some of those off on some Galactic travels were relatives of Deputy Mayor Iv’va, who have strongly supported the city for years. “We love Lianorm and are sad to be leaving,” said dancer Whitesox, “But while I’m out of town on adventures to the Outer Rim, cousin Iv’va will be taking care of my home. He can’t do that the Galactic Civic Authorities packed it up after 90 days.”
The buildings’ relocation created some gaps in Lianorm’s streets. However, the streets were speedily restored with help from the relatives of other citizens like Ma’at and Devina. Other spots of prime real estate were quickly snapped up by new citizens such as Giradan the Ithorian trader, and Sasquit the Wookiee.
But with an array of fancy new housing options available these days, Mayor Alyxa is struggling to find people willing to opt for the more traditional Nabooian-style home. “Lianorm wouldn’t be Lianorm without the charming Nabooian styled streets,” said Mayor Alyxa, “That’s why we’re always delighted when someone applies to erect a Naboo style structure in town. The effect is a lovely, charming town that is a pleasure to live in for citizens and visitors alike.”
It’s the opinion of this reporter that running a city is not just about the mayor’s organisational skills, but more about the effort the community puts in to creating a pleasant place to live, something that Lianorm’s residents excel at. It’s one of the reasons myself, and many others, are proud to call the town home.

Sasquit seen making out with Mara Jade

24-06-2011@Lianorm – by Bioge – On the glorious first day of Empire Day, Sasquit was seen in a passionate embrace with Mara Jade, the famous Imperial Operative. “Who knew she was into Wookiees?” said a surpised Iloc.
Sasquit is a total gentleman, not one given to kissing and telling, but he did reveal there was some kissing a la French. “She seems to like furry Banthas” commented a happy Sasquit.
Will that mean Mara will become a NEI and Lianorm fixture? More to come on this story…

Dear Aunt Beru,
I’ve recently been experiencing a troubling problem. You see, my boyfriend spends all his time with his Wookie buddy working on his ship. Normally, I wouldn’t mind but they get nothing accomplished. They just drink Corellian Ale and break things. I’ve tried helping them but that nerf-herder and I just end up in a fight. What should I do to save my relationship?
“Fed Up Princess”

Dear “Fed Up,”
I don’t think the problem is with “the boys” hanging out together breaking things. I think the problem is that you feel that they aren’t spending their time wisely. So, the problem really lies with you. I suspect you are a control freak in Princess clothing. Try kicking up your heels every once in a while with them. Enjoy the Ale and break things every now and then. You don’t need that hyperdrive, anyway.

POSITIONS VACANT: Got a vendor? Consider placing it in the Lianorm Mall! The Mall is a stone’s throw from the shuttleport which makes it an ideal selling spot. We’re looking for traders who can provide quality goods such as droids, housing, food, vehicles, power bits, and possibly even BM pets and supplies! Sound like your business? Contact Bialar, -Wolf or Alyxa for access to place your vendor.

WANTED: Alyxa wants to buy your junk hides!! Whatever amount of poor quality hide you’ve got, big or small, I’ll offer you 2cpu for it. Please make any offers to “Alyxa’s Array” vendor in the Lianorm Mall. Thank you!

Greetings, Citizens of Lianorm.
After recently returning to Lianorm with an eye to settling down amongst you, I find that I am called away again once more unavoidably. Fortunately, I have had some small advance warning of this coming deployment – and have 6 months to re-organize my affairs.
I’m hoping to pass on my business resources to a deeply committed crafter that shares my sense of altruism. Please contact Giradan directly via holomail should you be willing to take control of the resources in his crafting business.
Good day
Giradan Girithlin
Proprieter, Naboo Engineering Workshops -NEW-

In other words, I’ve been a crafter since launch. I want to spend my last 6 months having a chance to explore another side of the game and play with Jedi and BM. So I’m offering all my crates and resources for free to someone who wants to play crafter until we close. I’d also like that person to be actively engaged in making the last few months fun for other players – so I’d prefer them to go to someone who will sell items very cheaply and/or give them away altogether. That said, they’ll be yours and you can do with them as you like!
They are from Starsider. They are not vast (I couldn’t bring everything) and they are not, by and large, uber. I do have some 44 BER harvies and some elite harvester free power deeds you can also have. I have a set of factories on the edge of town I’ll gladly admin you on as well.
I am more than happy to make these all available to anyone (or everyone) for their use. But I have no money, really – having spent most of it kitting up with factories and deeds and such here – so would be appreciative of a donation towards getting me started as a jedi BM – be that via a gift of a pet, some credit resources, or even just good advice and being willing to take the noob along on events.

Let me know by emailing Giradan in game.
Best wishes to us all
David (Gir)

24-06-2011@Lianorm – by Azira – With Hurst away on his vacations, I’ve stepped in to bring you the highlights from the fishing world this week. And what an exciting couple of weeks it’s been!
The previous week saw Lianorm leap ahead on the leader boards with an almost 23m lead. That’s got to be an Eclipse record! The competition was left standing in the dust with their meagre 18m hauls leaving Lianorm as the clear winner! Balthus and Hurst headed up the leader board in first and second place and deserve congratulations for their awesome hauls.
This last week has been a little tougher. Not only were we a man down with Hurst away, but we also saw some vigorous new competition enter into the leader tables in the shape of Galacic Retreat. Lianorm held the lead for most of the week but was knocked down into second on Tuesday. Lianormer’s rose to the challenge and took back first place just a few hours before the close of this week’s leader boards and showing the newcomers just who the boss is, with a respectable 21.35m lead.
Previous arch-rival ‘Storm Haven’ hasn’t placed on the boards for a few weeks now… I wonder what happened to them?
In other fishing news this week; Alyxa has caught a Gigantic Record Naboo Ray. Measuring in at .87m, this whopper of a ray outscored the previous galactic record held by Alikat and scored Lianorm another travel point! Interestingly, the ray was caught in our home lake of Lianorm, near the bunker hill to the north. “There was some good Five Star fishing over there, so I settled in for a long session.” said Alyxa. “I caught several big ‘uns to get the town off to a good start for next week’s competition, but I was taken totally by surprise when I got a massive tug on my line. I thought he was going to pull me in!”
We also caught up with furry fisherman Balthus’dire to ask him what his secret was for catching three fish each measuring over 1m in the space of one week. Everyone knows that wookiees have a special prowess when it comes to their survival in nature. But Balthus, after shaking off the excess water from his shaggy coat simply said, “There is no secret”. One can only speculate that he’s just one lucky wookiee.

Azira interviews a new citizen: Ma’at Isi

*Let me begin by welcoming you to Lianorm! My first question is quite obvious: how did you come to live here?

I became a resident of Lianorm because I have always admired the city. It is also located on my favorite planet, Naboo. I have lived on Naboo for a few years in another city but it had become a safe haven for Rebel conspirators so I had to leave, sadly. Lianorm was my first choice, and luckily, I was welcomed there.

*Please tell us a little about yourself so existing residents can get to know you a little better.

I started playing SWG in 2003. I played on Eclipse and Flurry servers. My very first guild was AotOR (Rebel). We started out near Anchorhead on Tatooine but when player cities were introduced, we made our city, Ratava, on Lok. A few years later, I was asked by Bhaylor to join him and Devina as a councilor in the guild LOK, and to become the mayor of Purgatory, Lok. After leaving LOK, I moved on to guilds such as WOOK and -V- before deciding to go Imperial to join -CU-. Dues, of Hyperdrive Radio, passed on to me the honor of becoming the mayor of the first Entertainer City on Eclipse, Xanadu Bay, Naboo. A very good friend of mine, Eponine, made the suggestion to form a band so we made Total Eclipse Band, based out of XB. After a while, I had to deal with some RL stuff so that was when I had to leave the game for a few years. Upon my return, I found myself guildless and homeless. I ran into some “old friends” from NEI and the rest, they say, is history.

*What do you think of the town and its residents so far? Are they friendly? Heard any interesting gossip?

I really enjoy living in Lianorm. The manicured look is very appealing to me. The residents I have run across are very friendly. I especially love the fishing there! I was lucky enough to find a vacancy right next to the water. Sometimes my neighbor, Ba’st (whom I really think is one of those evil sith!), has these really crazy parties. I hear crashing and banging a lot. I have no idea what is going on over there but I would avoid her bunker if I were you.

*Do you enjoy living on Naboo? Or would you ideally like to make your home on another planet?

I spent many years living on Tatooine and Lok so Naboo is like heaven to me. I don’t want to live anywhere else!

*Do you have any plans for the future? What professions would you like to try out? What are your expectations of the game?

I always have lots of plans! One of them is that I would really like to finish building a cloud house so that I can decorate it and throw lots and lots of parties. Also, I would like to finish working on my beast master. I had an elder CH and I absolutely love pets in the game. I recently came back from a two year break so I’m trying not to have any real “expectations.” Over the years, I’ve learned what to expect from SOE so I’m doing my best to not focus on the issues, or the past, and just have fun. SWG has sooo much potential and it’s all up to the individual to make the most of it.

*What are your favourite in-game hobbies and activities?

My favorite hobbies are fishing, decorating, entertaining, and spending money (pretty much like real life). I also like to quest with my real life, and in game, husband, FaytleSyn.

*Do you have any comments about the current Galactic Civil War that’s ravaging the galaxy?

I really feel like the tide of battle is turning in the Emperor’s favor. While I do not support everything he does, I feel it’s important for our society to be stable and relatively peaceful for all citizens. I was a rebel for the first half of my life, and very involved in the rebellion. For now, I try to avoid it when ever possible because I’m very tired of all the bloodshed.

*What do you think of your associates in NEI? Does the guild suit you?

As Jabba said, They are my kind of scum!

*Lastly, is there anything you would like to say to our readers?

If you ever need help with anything, please don’t hesitate to ask me. I have traders, combat toons, and buffers.

*Thank you for this interview. It is a pleasure to have you as a new neighbour and I hope you will enjoy living in Lianorm for a long time to come!
